Immerse yourself in the grandeur of Khao Sok National Park, home to some of the world’s rarest and most exotic flora and fauna, where a lush emerald rainforest blankets the harsh terrain, and towering limestone cliffs seem to touch the sky. If you’re not a fan of trekking through the jungle, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered! Khao Lak Land Discovery has designed a fun-filled, low-impact, full-day tour, perfect for all ages, filled with the park’s greatest wet and wild hits! Bathe with Asian elephants, canoe down the Sok River, visit a Buddhist temple to get up close and personal with the resident monkeys, and much more!
Your friendly driver and guide will pick you up in the morning in front of your hotel, then start the day with a visit to the local morning market in Takua Pa to experience a piece of Thai daily life firsthand. Next, while en route to Khao Sok National Park, we pause for a moment at a breathtaking panoramic viewpoint, overlooking an expansive valley with limestone mountains jutting out of the rainforest to capture a few stunning photos before continuing further into the park.
In Thailand, elephants are sacred and revered animals. For centuries, elephants and Thai people worked side by side. These days, many elephants live a semi-retired lifestyle in camps around the country. Hard labor changed to trekking when tourists wanted to ride these gentle animals. Trekking became bathing as tourists’ opinions changed. Elephants adore getting dirty and taking a bath to wash off. They love it even more when you join them in the river to help wash their back! After a short briefing, you’ll feed your new friends, then join them in the river for Khao Sok’s version of an elephant pool party!
To replenish your energy while on tour, we will take you to the highly-rated Rock and Treehouse Resort, where our skilled chefs will prepare a mouth-watering treat to tease your tastebuds. Exclusive to our valued customers on tour with Khao Lak Land Discovery and guests at the resort, dining at the Rock and Treehouse is an experience in itself. The dining area at the restaurant doubles as a wildlife viewing area, so during lunch, keep your eyes open for the dusky leaf langurs and gibbons in the trees around and within the resort grounds.
Monkeys and other wild or stray animals often live or seek refuge on and around temple grounds in Thailand. Before the end of the day, we will bring you to Wat Tam Panturat Temple to view the playful and mischievous resident monkeys. Wat Tam Panturat Temple, located in an idyllic setting within the national park, creates the perfect opportunity to capture candid portraits of curious primates while they frolic and play!
The dense rainforest foliage creates the perfect camouflage for elusive wildlife and can often obstruct your view of Khao Sok’s astonishing karst landscape. Canoeing down the Sok River is the ideal way to get out from under the jungle canopy to catch views of the dramatic landscape and increase the chances for serendipitous encounters with wildlife coming to the riverbank to drink and bathe. Hop into a canoe and let your paddle guide do the work while you focus your attention and camera on the sights and sounds of this ancient rainforest habitat while cruising downstream.
Book your Khao Sok Day Trip with Khao Lak Land Discovery today and get ready for an unforgettable day of wet and wild fun amongst the unparalleled natural scenic beauty of Khao Sok National Park!
Your friendly driver and guide will pick you up in a comfy air-conditioned minibus at around 8 am in front of your hotel lobby. The pick-up time may vary depending on the location of your hotel, but we confirm the exact time when you book.
On the way to Khao Sok National Park, we make a short stop at the Takua Pa morning market. Markets such as this one are an integral part of the Thai economy, allowing local producers a place to sell the fruits of their labour. The adoption of the farm-to-table concept in the West may be trending these days, but it has always been the primary way that Thai people have shopped for fresh produce and fast food. You will have time to browse the stalls selling fresh produce, meats, seafood, and prepared dishes before we move on to Khao Sok.
During the drive to Khao Sok, we'll make a short stop to take in the view at a panoramic viewpoint overlooking an expansive valley, blanketed with lush green vegetation, amongst rugged limestone mountains.
Ready for the introduction of a lifetime? It’s time to meet Asia’s largest land animals! We supply you with some of their favourite treats to feed them to break the ice. Then, after you become acquainted with the elephants, get ready to join them in the river for the ultimate elephant pool party! These gentle giants adore splashing around and having a blast in the water, so be sure to pack your swim clothes because you are in for a wet and wild time! A highlight for kids of all ages and sure to bring out the inner child in everyone! If you decide to stand on the river bank to take a few memorable photos, be cautious not to accidentally get sprayed by an elephant's trunk. It's a good idea to bring a waterproof case for your phone or camera if you want to get this close to the action!
A Khao Lak Land Discovery exclusive and an experience in itself, we bring you to dine at the Rock and Treehouse Resort. Tour food can often taste less than stellar, but not today. Today, you will enjoy what could likely be the best food available on any tour in the province. Our highly skilled chefs will prepare a mouthwatering Thai lunch, sure to tease your tastebuds! With a towering limestone cliff as the backdrop to this restaurant oasis, the Rock and Treehouse offers more than just great food and amenities!
Hop into a canoe and let your local paddle guide take you on a relaxing scenic cruise downriver, stopping mid-way for freshly brewed coffee in an eco-friendly wild bamboo cup. Karst mountains jutting out of the jungle canopy are a hallmark sight in Khao Sok but make for rugged terrain, which, combined with the density of the rainforest, make many areas nearll impassable by land. Canoeing the Sok River is the perfect way to navigate this mountainous region. Without the need to paddle yourself, you can focus on the lush vegetation that lines the river bank and the limestone cliffs that tower over the jungle canopy, keeping your hands free to capture perfect photographs. Many Khao Sok inhabitants are masters of camouflage and elusion, making them very difficult to spot. The knowledge of the local habitat and its inhabitants, which your guide possesses, is a fantastic resource you can tap to help you spot creatures that you might otherwise miss.
While you may see a few species of primates while eating lunch or canoeing down the Sok River, you can get up close and personal with the resident monkeys at the Wat Tam Panturat Temple. The peaceful environment of the temple often attracts animals seeking refuge, including curious monkeys. However, monkeys are known to be collectors and may take your valuables, such as necklaces and bracelets. For this reason, we highly recommend leaving any such items in the minivan to avoid losing them to the monkeys' collections.
After visiting the monkeys, your driver and guide will return you to your hotel around 5 pm. Please ensure that you take your personal belongings with you when you exit the minibus. It is time to say farewell, and we hope to see you again soon.
